Basil talks to a person in a park. Several people are standing around them wearing spring jackets. A large branching tree hangs above.

Basil's priorities

  • Attainable housing that keeps families in Saanich

  • Safe roads that let our kids walk and bike to school

  • Walkable neighbourhoods that support local businesses

  • Tree-lined streets that shade heat waves and absorb floods

  • Innovative approaches that decrease our tax burden

Basil and three others stand in a field in the sun wearing masks. Several bikes and trees sit behind them.

The place we call Saanich is within the unceded territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples and lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples. The District of Saanich and its settler residents are here because of the dispossession of these lands and the systematic removal of the peoples who have lived here since time immemorial.

As a settler on these lands, I am committed to examining and challenging the systems of dispossession which have privileged me at Indigenous peoples' expense.
